Differences between rising stem gate valve and non rising stem gate valve

Posted by Bundor valve
The driving mode of rising stem gate valve is different from non rising stem gate valve. The rising stem gate valve is driven by the handwheel to rotate the nut in place, and the valve stem rises and falls in a straight line to complete the opening and closing; The non rising stem gate valve uses the handwheel to drive the valve stem to rotate. There are threads (equivalent to nuts) in the gate plate to move up and down to complete the opening and closing.

Differences between rising stem gate valve and non rising stem gate valve:

1.The rising stem gate valve can see the screw stem, while the non rising stem gate valve can not see the screw stem.

2.Rising stem gate valve is used to lift or lower the valve wedge through the threaded transmission of the valve stem and handwheel; When the non rising stem gate valve is opened and closed, the handwheel and the valve stem are connected together and relatively stationary. It drives the valve clack up and down to complete the opening and closing by rotating the valve stem at a fixed point.

3.The transmission thread of the non rising stem gate valve is located inside the valve body. During the opening and closing process, the valve stem only rotates, and the gate rises and falls in the valve body; The valve rod of rising stem gate valve drives the gate to rise and fall together. The transmission thread on the valve rod is outside the valve body. The opening, closing and position of the gate can be judged intuitively according to the movement direction and position of the valve rod.

4.The height of non rising stem gate valve is small;Rising stem gate valve requires large installation space.

5.The structure of rising stem gate valve is beneficial to the lubrication of valve stem, and the opening and closing degree is obvious; The stem thread of the non rising stem gate valve is not only non lubricated, but also directly eroded by the medium, which is easy to be damaged. Therefore, rising stem gate valves are more widely used.
